Consumer Unit (CU) / Fuse Board Replacement

To meet current electrical safety regulations, outdated fuse boards should be upgraded to a modern metal consumer unit fitted with RCD protection. This upgrade significantly improves safety and reduces the risk of electric shock or fire. In most homes, a consumer unit replacement is completed within one working day.

What’s Included in Our Fuse Board Installation

Our consumer unit replacement service includes:

During the Installation

The electrical supply will need to be switched off while the work is carried out. Where needed, Easy Electrical London Ltd can provide temporary power to essential appliances such as fridges, freezers, or mobility equipment.

To complete the safety checks, we’ll need access to all rooms in the property to test sockets, lighting, and fixed electrical equipment.

Earthing & Bonding Requirements

If the consumer unit is located more than two metres from the main gas or water supplies, additional bonding may be required. In this case, we’ll provide a clear quote and arrange a convenient time to complete the work.

Existing Wiring Conditions

Upgrading your consumer unit does not automatically fix any pre-existing wiring faults. Modern RCDs are highly sensitive and are designed to trip when they detect a problem—alerting you to issues that older fuse boards may not have identified.
If the new consumer unit trips after installation, Easy Electrical London Ltd will investigate the cause and advise on the most effective solution to resolve the issue safely.
